RBFF pledges to continue mission despite funding loss

Share

The organisation responsible spearheading recruitment in fishing and boating in the US for the last 27 years has pledged to continue its work despite the loss of its federal funding.

The Recreational Boating & Fishing Foundation (RBFF), which helped drive fishing participation to an all-time record high of 57.9m Americans last year, has closed the doors of its headquarters in Alexandra, Virginia.

David Chanda, who remains as President and CEO of the organisation, said: “This was an extremely difficult step that directly affected valued colleagues who dedicated their careers to advancing our mission. Supporting our employees through this transition has been our priority.

“Although our office has closed, a small team will carry forward with unwavering commitment to the RBFF’s mission: increasing participation in fishing and boating and strengthening aquatic conservation nationwide.”

Chanda added that the RBFF leadership and its Executive Committee is actively evaluating options to sustain its critical mission work in the new operating environment. “We shall share updates as plans develop. In the meantime, our team remains focused on continuity, supporting our partners and honouring the legacy built up over nearly three decades.

“We thank everyone who has stood with RBFF – our staff, partners, agencies, industry leaders and supporters. The mission endures because of you.”
