Japanese line manufacturer Momoi was pleased with strong interest in its latest product innovations at EFTTEX, with its new Cast Mania Aero Leader earning a runners-up award and attracting significant attention from visitors and distributors.
Despite expressing some reservations about the overall attendance, Momoi reported that the number of potential customers visiting its stand exceeded expectations, particularly compared with last year’s exhibition. “We did not expect so many visitors based on our experience from last year,” said Manager Ken Harada. “The number of potential customers was higher than we anticipated.”
A key objective for Momoi at EFTTEX was to meet with its existing European distribution network. While several major distributors attended the show, the company said turnout from its distributor base was lower than hoped.
Harada said that the Aero Leader builds on the company’s established Shock Leader range, but introduces several notable advancements, including exceptional softness, extremely low water absorption and high breaking strength.
“Low water absorption is normally considered impossible for nylon, but our 120 years of expertise has made it achievable,” explained Harada.

The softer construction is designed to improve casting performance and reduce stress during use, while offering greater strength than many conventional fluorocarbon leaders. The name ‘Aero’ draws inspiration from Formula One racing cars and fighter jets, reflecting the product’s emphasis on speed, smoothness and power.
Harada said winning industry awards remains an important validation of Momoi’s manufacturing standards. “We feel honoured every time our quality is understood as one of the highest in the world,” he said. “We appreciate the reputation.”
Alongside the Aero Leader, Momoi also launched Momoi Sustina Line, an environmentally focused nylon monofilament made from 100% chemically recycled materials sourced from used nylon fishing nets. Harada added that the line combines sustainability with performance through its proprietary extrusion technology, delivering high sensitivity and strength while helping reduce environmental impact.

While Harada acknowledged that overall visitor numbers at EFTTEX remain below the levels seen during the show’s peak years, it continues to view the exhibition as an important event for the European tackle industry. He said: “We have participated in EFTTEX since 2007 and had great success in the past. It will be difficult to return to such a large show of previous years, but we hope EFTTEX continues to exist as an important show in Europe.”
With an established distribution network already in place across Europe, Harada said finding new distributors was not a primary success story from the event.
Looking ahead, the company has confirmed plans to exhibit at EFTTEX Prague next year.
In the wider market, Harada reports that business conditions in Europe remain below historic level, but continue to improve gradually. The company identified sustainability and technological innovation as its two major development priorities, with additional new products expected later this year or in 2027.
