Wafters have fundamentally changed feeder fishing across Europe and Hungarian bait supplier Carp Zoom has been at the forefront of its development for more than six years.
The Budapest-based company’s Export Manager, Agnes Perecz, told Angling International: “It is now hard to find a feeder fisherman that does not have wafters in their tackle box. They are now established baits that can be used in all weather conditions and a wide variety of locations.
“In the early days of their development there were only a small number of sizes and flavours available, but over time the product range has expanded significantly as the durability improved. They are now made from high quality ingredients and the carefully balanced formula helps to preserve the soft texture for up to two years in airtight packaging. The earlier versions often hardened quickly during storage.”
New from Carp Zoom are Lightning Wafters, which are used when fishing murky waters at night. The ‘power charging’ of the bait occurs when it is exposed to sunlight or a lamp, giving it an attractive fluorescent glow that – combined with a suitable hookbait – delivers a perfect balance that allows it to fly ‘almost unnoticed’ into the mouth of the fish.
Perecz added: “Since its texture is unique, it can be used for several casts whether on a line or on a bait spike. The use of high quality flour makes it a premium bait.”
