As global economic uncertainty continues to challenge the fishing tackle industry, OEM manufacturer FirstDart will use ICAST 2026 to showcase how strategic investment in automation, supply-chain security and flexible manufacturing is helping its partners navigate an increasingly volatile marketplace.
For the Asia-based manufacturer, ICAST remains the most important event on its North American calendar, providing direct access to businesses across North and South America.
“ICAST is an invaluable opportunity for us to meet our partners face-to-face under one roof,” said FirstDart’s Sandy Ogata. “The show allows us to strengthen existing relationships, establish new strategic partnerships and gain real-time market intelligence from some of the industry’s most influential players.”
While many exhibitors will focus on product launches, FirstDart‘s headline message this year centres on operational capability. The company has introduced greater logistical flexibility, optimised minimum order quantities and enhanced production efficiency to help OEM customers manage uncertainty and bring products to market faster.
“Given the current global landscape, our biggest innovation isn’t a single product but the evolution of our manufacturing and supply-chain capabilities,” Ogata explained. “We’ve re-engineered key areas of our operation to deliver shorter lead times, greater flexibility and more stable cost structures for our customers.”

The company says 2026 has presented significant challenges, including trade policy fluctuations, tariffs and geopolitical tensions that have affected oil prices, raw material costs and international logistics.
In response, it has secured long-term raw material reserves to ensure supply-chain stability and accelerated automation across its manufacturing facilities. “These measures have increased productivity, reduced operational costs and provided greater pricing predictability for OEM partners.”
Despite ongoing uncertainty, FirstDart remains optimistic about the remainder of the year. “We are cautious but exceptionally optimistic because of the resilience demonstrated by both the market and our partners,” added Ogata. “Our customers have remained agile and proactive and we have seen new opportunities emerge even during challenging conditions. With our expanded sales representation model and continued investment in automation, we believe we are well positioned for a strong finish to 2026.”
Visitors to the FirstDart booth will be able to explore the company’s full range of custom line solutions and meet North American Market Representative Eric Naig (right), who will be available to discuss technical requirements and OEM development opportunities.
FirstDart believes its competitive advantage is built on three core strengths:
