A new European wading brand is beginning to attract serious attention from fly fishing retailers, guides and anglers looking for technical performance without premium-level pricing.
HYDROX – from the French-based SERT Fishing stable of brands – has steadily built momentum across Europe thanks to a clear positioning focused on functionality, durability and value for money. “While many brands continue to push increasingly expensive technical products, HYDROX has chosen a different route: delivering reliable, modern wading equipment designed for everyday anglers as much as dedicated specialists,” said its Product Manager, Jean-Baptiste Nurenberg.
Its current flagship products – the VORTEX and VORTEX Zip waders alongside the Rider2 LT wading boots – are now helping establish the brand as one of the most interesting emerging names in the European wading sector.
“The HYDROX strategy is based around offering practical performance-driven products adapted to the realities of modern European fishing. Long walking distances, changing river conditions, abrasive terrain and the growing demand for lighter equipment have all influenced the development of the range,” added Nurenberg.
The VORTEX and VORTEX Zip waders sit at the centre of the collection and combine modern technical construction with an aggressive retail price point.
Built using a four-layer waterproof and breathable fabric, the waders offer:

The VORTEX Zip version additionally incorporates a Tizip Masterseal front zipper designed to improve comfort during long fishing sessions.
Alongside the VORTEX range, the Rider2 LT boots have become one of the strongest ambassadors for the HYDROX philosophy. Designed around lightweight mobility and long-distance comfort, the boots reflect a broader trend within European fly fishing towards lighter and more versatile wading systems. Particular attention has been paid to reducing water absorption while maintaining durability for demanding river environments. The lightweight feel in the water and immediate comfort have proved especially popular with travelling anglers and regular wading enthusiasts fishing rocky rivers across Europe.
Rider2 LT features:
HYDROX is also preparing a broader expansion of its product catalogue for 2027 as it looks to strengthen its position within the European tackle trade. The brand is expected to introduce:
“This wider product strategy demonstrates that HYDROX is aiming not only to compete in the technical wading category, but also to become a complete European wading equipment brand capable of servicing multiple retail segments,” explained Nurenberg. “The combination of technical specifications, accessible pricing and modern product design is already helping the brand generate increasing interest among European distributors and specialist fly fishing retailers. At a time when many anglers are becoming more selective about equipment spending, HYDROX is well positioned between entry-level products and the increasingly expensive premium segment.”
For retailers, that positioning delivers:
“With the VORTEX waders and Rider2 LT boots leading the way, HYDROX is rapidly becoming a brand to watch within the evolving European wading market. It is targeting anglers seeking dependable technical equipment without entering the highest pricing segments of the market,” added Nurenberg.
