As the long-awaited legislation on restrictions on lead in fishing tackle creeps ever closer, one company that has been preparing for the day for decades will once again be at a European show highlighting its comprehensive range of non-toxic alternatives.
Dinsmores of the UK has been preparing for a total Europe-wide ban on lead in the many years since it was first restricted in its home market.
The company’s Managing Director, Nigel May, told Angling International: “Dinsmores has been at the forefront of developing and manufacturing viable alternatives for both shot and weights. We have over 30 years’ experience and now have an extensive range to suit most fishing conditions.”
After long and protracted negotiations, May added that the trade expected an announcement by the European Chemical Agency (ECHA) on restrictions on the use of lead in fishing tackle this month, but after two delays already news is yet to be forthcoming.
“We have been told we are getting close to an announcement, but that is the extent of what we know.”
However, one thing is for certain, when it comes Dinsmores will be ready. May said: “Our shot selections cover all sizes and are produced in round, egg and Styx. We have also developed buffer coatings that are available in a range of matt colours to suit all conditions, including Black, Grey, Green and Gravel.”
As well as shot Dinsmores has a complete range of attractively packaged weights, Bombs, Balls, Coffins, Barrels, Plummets and Clip-Ons in a full range of sizes. It also offers an OEM service.
At last year’s European trade show Dinsmore’s contribution to the environment was highlighted when it won the Best Green Solution award alongside accolades in the General & Coarse Accessory and General & Coarse Terminal Tackle categories. It will be hoping for similar success at Angling International LIVE with three newcomers to its collection.
