As Quantum prepares to celebrate its 40th anniversary, the Rather Outdoors brand has revealed that it plans to concentrate solely on the saltwater market in the future.
Historically, it has had a strong freshwater line-up of rods and reels for the tournament bass angler alongside models -like the Cabo and Smoke -geared towards to serious saltwater specialists which has enjoyed an incredibly strong following through the years. Mike Rice Senior VP of Quantum said: “For Quantum to continue to be stewards of the brand we must respect the past but also chart the future.
“This strategic change has been several years in the making. We started by building from the ground up with a team of industry veterans boasting over 150 years of combined experience in saltwater. Our team has a proven track record of managing successful salt brands and understand what our customers and consumers want.
“These guys aren’t corporate desk jockeys – they fish and take it seriously.”
Quantum’s new headquarters in Stuart, Florida, is perfect for year-round field testing with access to both inshore and offshore waters. ‘Tested Beyond Limits’ is its mantra and a core pillar of the brand. “It’s more than just a tagline for the brand; it’s how the team operates every day,” says Paul Bourcq, Senior Director of Marketing. “Whether field testing on the water or rigorously testing rods and reels in the state-of-the-art facility in Tulsa, Oklahoma, nothing is approved until everyone agrees it’s market ready. No compromises.”
This year, Quantum will introduce two new spinning reels at next week’s ICAST: the Benchmark™ (below) and Strive™ (above).
