The depreciation of the yen means that the renowned quality of Japanese products present an even more attractive proposition for buyers.
Osaka-based Dohitomi, owner of the Maruto, Eagle Wave and Odz hook brands, is hoping that the economic conditions will be a good opportunity for Japanese companies exhibiting at Angling International LIVE.
The company’s Yoshi Dohi told Angling International: “Japanese products are attracting more attention than ever before, so both Japanese exhibitors and buyers could benefit at this exhibition.”
Dohi added that Dohitomi planned to show off new products including UV finished hooks (above) and a new Tungsten Jighead (below) as well as established ones at the event in Budapest.
Europe is an important market for the Japanese hookmaker. Dohi said: “We conduct business with nearly all countries in the region – it is an essential sportfishing market for us. Our most important export markets are currently the UK, Italy, Germany and Hungary.
“We look forward to attending shows throughout the world – we also exhibit at our domestic event in Osaka and ICAST – as we feel it is important to conduct face-to-face meetings. They also represent an opportunity for us to make new business partners while holding meetings with current partners.”
Dohitomi has been a regular face at European shows since 1994 and Dohi says it is excited to be returning to Budapest. “It is one of my favourite cities,” he said.
