Former ICAST ‘Best of Show’ award winner Jackson Kayak has merged with Werner Paddles, with Jackson serving as the parent company of both brands. Paddle production will move from Monroe, Washington to the Jackson location in Sparta, Tennessee.
“We have a strong team, a very large facility and our location is ideal for growth,” said Peter Hausin, CEO of Jackson Kayak. “We knew we would be stronger as a larger company so we are thrilled to join forces with one of the premier brands in paddlesports.”
Jackson Kayak, founded 20 years ago by Eric Jackson and Tony Lunt, won the overall best of show award at the 2018 ICAST with its 360 Angler model.
The first Werner paddle was made by Werner Furrer Jr. in 1975. This week’s deal was finalised at a meeting between Werner Paddles’ current owner, Bruce Furrer, and Jackson Kayak majority holder Tony Lunt.
“I quickly learned of Tony’s long-term involvement with paddlesports, his belief in supporting employees and his commitment to producing the highest quality products,” said Furrer. “I’m comfortable Werner Paddles is in good hands.”
Both companies’ sales and marketing teams will continue to operate independently.
