Boot supplier: New deals last year proved trade show is ‘our most important event’

A Polish fishing boots manufacturer says a European trade show is the most important event on the company’s calendar.

Marcin Deuter (below), CEO of Dry Walker, a major supplier of EVA boots worldwide, told Angling International: “I am very happy and excited that the show is going ahead this year. It is very important to us and has always delivered new customers during fruitful meetings.”

Deuter is adamant that the industry needs an annual meeting place. “As well as from a business point of view, it is crucial for maintaining important trade contacts and listening to the requirements of the marketplace.

“The industry is changing year-on-year, making a European trade show a very important platform.”

Like many, Deuter admitted he was anxious before the doors opened for the first EFTTEX in four years in Budapest last June. “But I was really surprised when we had 25 meetings and secured new customers in Ukraine, Serbia, Romania, Germany and Sweden.”

And with the same logistics team behind this year’s event, Deuter is looking forward to more of the same for an industry which is stabilising following a number of turbulent years. “Last year was so much better than 2022 when there was no confidence in the market. No one wanted conversations. Emails and phone calls were not returned. Now people are picking up. People are interested.”

Deuter revealed that fishing is an important sector for Dry Walker, representing around 50% of its revenue. “My background is in the recreational fishing industry and I am well known in the sector. I know what fishermen want out of their boots and can deliver quality products that suit their requirements.”

He also revealed that Dry Walker is working on the development of two new lines of boots which will be launched at Angling International LIVE.
