Angling International LIVE: ‘We’ve already booked our flights’

Minutes after hearing of the launch of Angling International LIVE, one UK award-winning company had already booked its flights for Budapest.

Nigel May (below left with Director Ian May) is Managing Director of non toxic shot and weights producer Dinsmores which won three awards at EFTTEX last year. He told Angling International: “I am over the moon that we will have a European show in 2024. As a small producer of tackle we need a window to show off our goods.

“A European show is so important for us because it is a window for small and medium-sized manufacturers to showcase their products to wholesalers and retailers. It is an opportunity to champion the small guy.”

May added that the success of the European show in Budapest demonstrated the need for an event in the region. “We were extremely apprehensive about the show last year as there had not been an event for four years because of the pandemic. But we enjoyed a very good show.

“It costs a lot of money to visit all your customers individually, so having a show where you can see them all in just three days makes so much sense for us.”

Dinsmores has been the leading manufacturer of non-toxic weights and shot since lead restrictions were introduced in the UK in 1987. Its efforts were recognised at the European show last year when it collected awards for its Super Soft Non-Toxic Shot, Super Soft Stealth Egg Shot and the prestigious Green Solution accolade.

May said that he was ‘astounded’ by the reaction to its success. “It resulted in a lot of interest in our non-toxic products. The awards increased our profile and gave us a foot in the door with companies looking for a non-lead solution. That would not have happened without a trade show.”
