Float Plus has declared its star of 2023 a ‘record-breaker’. The latest belly boat from the Dutch company helped angler and journalist Jens Bursell land a huge sturgeon weighing more than 90kg.
Maikel Lambregts, Product Developer for the Nuland-based company, describes the boat as ‘the perfect machine for vertical, diagonal or casting fishing’ – and judging by how it has been received in the market, he is right.
The craft has proved its big fish credentials. Fishing writer Jens Bursell proved that the Belly Boat I has what it takes to catch monster fish when he landed a sturgeon weighing more than 90kg – the biggest ever from a water in Denmark – while fishing from the boat.
The craft’s conical tubes ensure that buoyancy is in the right place and provide great balance with minimal water resistance and a limited draft. Its extreme manoeuvrability and speed make it easy to fish in all directions.
A lot of focus was placed on the design of a seat that holds its position throughout the day’s fishing. The seat’s bottom is also angled for optimum stability.
Wear strips run continuously under the tubes and the front seat to ensure durability, and accessories can be glued anywhere they are needed.
The valves are conveniently centred and indicate the required pressure, while the engine cable hole is nicely accessible in the inflatable bottom. Lifting is made easy by the positioning of the handles.
Float Plus 1 weighs 12kg, measures 185cm x 122cm and has a buoyancy of 220kg. The corresponding statistics for the smaller Float Plus 2 are 9kg, 160cm x 118cm and 200kg.
