World first in floats to make debut at EFTTEX 2025

A German company, Clever Float, is set to make its mark at Europe’s premier tackle trade show with a groundbreaking product that it says will replace the ‘toxic’ glow sticks and all battery-operated LED floats in the future.
“This is a revolutionary new level for fishing at dusk and night,“ said Clever Float Press Spokesman Winfried Skarke. “The company has exclusively developed a self-luminous material for the tip of floats. The luminous effect is activated by UV radiation from the sun or a standard UV lamp. Visibility is far better than with a glow stick. Both the light intensity and the light duration of more than 90 minutes beats any material currently on the market.
“When the luminous effect fades, the tip only needs to be illuminated with a UV lamp for a few seconds and the next 90 minutes are guaranteed.”
The new material is environmentally friendly and is even suitable for children’s toys. In this way, the company is continuing its philosophy of ensuring absolute environmental compatibility, it says. The basis is corn starch and lactic acid bacteria (PLA) – in other words, no petroleum-based raw materials.
The new development is also the reason for producing these floats in three colours. The slightly cheaper single-colour line – Classic Line – is supplemented by the three-colour versions with a self-luminous tip (Glow Line).
The luminous tip is ’the icing on the cake’ following Clever Float’s introduction of a new-style lead-free float with a patented AirControl system that ‘literally reinvents float fishing,’ says Skarke.
All conventional floats have worked according to Archimedes’ principle of ‘buoyancy through displacement’ since time immemorial. Instead, Clever Float utilises the hydrodynamic principle for fishing for the first time. The innovative float is dynamically connected to both atmospheric pressure and water pressure through openings in the body. The float body contains a sophisticated bottle siphon system (patented AirControl System) meaning Clever Floats hover on an air cushion inside.
Adds Skarke: “Clever Floats do not require any lead or other attached weights. They fly a good distance when cast even with small lures and automatically adjust to the bait weight and stand immediately upright in the water. The bite resistance can be reduced to almost zero after casting. What’s more, Clever Floats can be guided to a specific spot and placed on the bottom there.“
With Clever Floats, you can fish for any type of species from non-predatory fish to predators. “Thanks to their versatility, the four Clever Float sizes replace the entire standard range of 20 to 40 floats. For beginners, this means faster fishing success. Experienced anglers will enjoy the new possibilities although they will have to rethink their experience and break some old habits.”
Clever Float has secured an exclusive distribution deal in Germany with Q-tac Quality Tackle GmbH but is looking for international partners at EFTTEX for the product that has been nominated for the Innovation Award at the show.
