Despite describing the past year as challenging, Behr Angelsport remains optimistic about the future as it prepares to celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2027 and continues to invest in product innovation.
The family-owned German tackle manufacturer says consumer spending has been subdued, particularly for higher-priced products, but believes the market will recover when geopolitical tensions ease.
“We have had a difficult year, as has probably been the case for most companies in our industry,” said the firm’s Managing Director, Manfred Behr. “There has been significant reluctance among consumers to buy, especially higher-priced items. The wars must stop.

“The greatest challenge has been to keep going and stay on our chosen path by continuing to develop new and innovative products. We are optimistic for the coming year. When the wars end and a semblance of normality returns to Europe, our industry will benefit as well.”
As one of the few remaining independent family-owned businesses in the tackle industry, Behr says its independence allows it to respond quickly and make long-term decisions.
Discussing EFTTEX, Behr reaffirmed its long-term commitment to the European trade show. “We’ve been exhibiting there for decades and believe it is absolutely essential that Europe has a trade show. We didn’t expect too much from this year’s event, but we wanted to support the organisation on its journey towards greater success in the years ahead.”
The company’s primary objectives were to maintain its market presence and showcase its latest products. “We expected a little more from the show, but we are not dissatisfied. We made new contacts that we believe will bear fruit in the near future. It was also great to meet old friends and long-standing business partners again.”
Behr admitted visitor numbers could have been stronger. “There could certainly have been more visitors. Barcelona is a beautiful city, but it isn’t really the hub of the European tackle industry. We believe Prague will be a much better venue next year because of its more central location.”
Among the products unveiled at the show were the new Trendex Bottom Plus bait range, waterproof Outdoor gloves, the Seabehr flotation suit and a new deep-diving hard lure. The launches were recognised with two second-place awards during the exhibition.
