Tough times help Eagle Claw prosper as it celebrates 100th anniversary

Share

Hook maker Eagle Claw will be celebrating 100 years of American-made tackle at ICAST and says it is a story of resilience, innovation and staying power.

Through a century of ups and downs in global trade and domestic markets, Eagle Claw has remained family-owned and proudly American made. Based in Denver, Colorado, the company continues to manufacture all of its fish hooks in the US, a point of pride and a powerful differentiator in today’s shifting marketplace.

“During our 100 years, we haven’t just weathered tough conditions. We’ve made some of our best moves in them,” said Eric Allee, Marketing Manager for Eagle Claw. “If you look back at our history, there are key moments where we made strategic choices that pushed the company forward. That gives me confidence. I see challenges as opportunities to work through, not doom to fear.

“Everyone in the industry has been affected by tariffs. It has affected us both directly and indirectly, but it has not changed how we approach them. Fishing is not always sunshine and calm water. You are going to face tough situations and the best anglers are those who stay focused and adapt. They don’t let adversity shift the mindset from ‘I am going to catch fish’ to ‘why can’t I catch fish?’ That mental shift can tank a trip. It is the same in business. You have to remain focused on the goal and ask the right questions. Our mind will find answers to what we ask, and that inner dialogue plays a big role in the outcome.”

At this year’s ICAST, Eagle Claw will showcase products from across its full line-up, including Eagle Claw, Lazer Sharp, Trokar, Jet Sled and Shappell. New product launches include a full tool revamp, a new jig line-up, catfish terminal tackle, Meal Ticket crappie rods and a stack of saltwater rigs.

“ICAST gives us the chance to honour our 100-year legacy while looking ahead to what’s next. We remain family-owned, our hooks are still made in Denver, Colorado and we are focused on continuing to earn the trust of anglers for years to come.”
