Mudhole Custom Tackle comes to aid of Florida’s longest river

Share

One of North America’s leading suppliers of fishing rod building and crafting goods has partnered with an organisation that is working to rehabilitate Florida’s longest river and a former premier bass fishery.

Mudhole Custom Tackle, part of the Foundation Outdoor Group, has teamed up with Mighty River Recovery in a collaboration that will provide financial support, fund-raising and hands-on volunteering to restore the wildlife habitat on St. John’s River.

“The important work that Mighty River Recovery is doing is crucial to the future of St. Johns River. We are thrilled to be supporting such a worthy initiative that is right in our back yard,” said Hunter McKamey, Foundation Outdoor Group’s Vice President (pictured above left with Joe Balog). “I have enjoyed countless hours fishing the St. Johns River in my youth and have seen a significant decline in the fisheries and wildlife firsthand.

“The entire Mudhole team is excited to roll up our sleeves and help Joe Balog and the Mighty River Recovery organisation make a significant impact on the future of this critical habitat.”

“Mighty River Recovery is truly focused on actions that will restore St. Johns. We are performing the research, getting in the water and doing work that will replenish the habitats that will rehabilitate the ecosystem,” said Joe Balog, Mighty River Recovery’s Executive Director.

“We are grateful for the support and enthusiasm that Hunter and the Mudhole team are bringing to our organisation and we look forward to doing great things together for the St. Johns River.”

Mighty River Recovery is comprised of outdoor enthusiasts unified to take action in support of St. Johns River and relies on volunteers and donations to make a difference.

Mudhole Custom Tackle’s support is committed to establishing the first five Citizen Enclosure Projects (CEPs) along the shores and riverbeds, providing transparent, independent research to fully understand the issues affecting St. Johns River.

In addition, it will be providing employee volunteers throughout the year to assist with management and maintenance of the CEPs locations and other Mighty River Recovery efforts.
