French fishing tackle brand SAKURA – part of the SERT family of brands – reports ‘very good signs’ for business this year following its successful launch of products towards the end of 2024.
One of those leading the way is the BAFFEUR JERK, which was created by Tanguy Marlin. Described as a formidable jerkbait for pike fishing, it is said to appeal to anglers – including beginners – as it catches large fish without too much difficulty. SAKURA Product Manager Franck Rosmann told Angling International: “We worked on its construction so that it offered foolproof protection against the sharp teeth of pike with a full wire stainless steel frame as its solid backbone.
“We wanted to demonstrate that the BAFFEUR JERK was a truly essential lure that anglers could have complete confidence in, so we took it into the jungle of French Guyana to tackle the terrible Aïmaras, renowned for their ability to destroy even the most durable lure.”
In addition to the success of the RYOKAN FW rod series, two other lures also stand-out:
GOOBY CURL (main image) is a soft lure shaped like a goby, a prey that is loved by predators. This new version has a wriggling sickle-shaped tail that in just a few weeks has become a favourite of perch and zander. Used on a jighead or added as a trailer to a spinnerbait or a bladed jig, the Gooby CURL is versatile and highly effective. It has been injected with an ‘anise’ attractant to add to its appeal. With the environment in mind, it is made of safe PVC and – like all SAKURA soft lures – does not contain Bisphenol A or phthalates. It is also available with a paddletail as the GOOBY SHAD.
BIG SHAD PIKE affirms SAKURA’s desire to develop its range of soft lures for pike fishing. It is available in two sizes – 150mm and 200mm – and is perfectly suited to the shallow rig assembly which, enhanced with additional weights like the SAKURA Plomb Clip Poire, allows you to fish at all depths with efficiency. The unique action of this swimbait gives it a ‘bounce action’ with each movement and creates enormous pulsations. It comes into action as soon as it is submerged and gives the lure a marked rolling action that makes it easier to spot at distance.
