One of Scandinavia’s best-known eyewear suppliers is set to expand its distribution network across Europe.
Leech Eyewear, already a household name across Nordic markets, will be making its European trade show debut at Angling International LIVE to promote its growing brand to retailers and distributors across Europe.
The company’s Jimmy Åsedal told Angling International: “In the last few years we have started to grow with distributors outside the Nordic region in countries that include France, Poland and Bulgaria. We are ready to build on that and showcase our products and find some interesting partnerships going forward on our journey.
“First and foremost we want to meet with store owners and distributors and learn more about their respective markets. Spain, Italy, Croatia and any other countries in the region would be great – we are open to all opportunities.”
Based in Sweden, Leech is ideally placed to provide anglers with rugged fishing eyewear to carry out their favourite sport. “We are born and raised in the north where species like pike, zander and perch – as well as salmon and trout – are abundant.
”It shows in our brand positioning with ambassadors and content from northern Europe. We strive to deliver the lightest possible materials in eyewear for long days on the water without headaches, while also assuring a long, durable life.”
Åsedal added that the company is looking for fishing/outdoor retailers/distributors who are curious about new brands and enjoy exploring something new. “Although we have been around for 12 years we are still young compared to the largest brands in the polarised sunglasses market.”
Leech Eyewear has seen a healthy growth in sales in recent years led, says Åsedal, by a realisation that glasses are important for success on the water. “Light and comfortable eyewear with high optical clarity and great durability are becoming a necessity for serious anglers. Even for beginners they play an important role in protecting eyes from flying hooks.”
At Angling international LIVE, Leech will be entering its 2025 fishpro model in the New Product Showcase. They are made with light polycarbonate lenses with wide side shutters to block out side and back light, together with a biobased frame produced in TR90 and rubber injections. They are, says Leech, made to be durable and light.
The shutters can be removed for a more sporty look. They come in four versions: two with Brown lenses and Revo Orange or Blue mirror coatings, Yellow lens and light Silver coating or Grey to combat strong sunlight.
