New lure and carp rods are set to be unveiled for the first time at the Angling International LIVE show by top Chinese OEM supplier Weihai Hanhigh.
In giving a debut to heavy and ultra light lure rods, the company will be using new materials in their construction. Owner of the business, Qian Gang Wang (below) told Angling International: “Higher modulus carbon fibre rods with higher rigidity and power can be fragile and less powerful.
“The new M40X and T1100G carbon fibre improves on this shortcoming as it delivers improved stiffness without the reduction in strength.”
Wang said that he is also looking to introduce the X-Cast carp rods in Budapest. “Normally for long-casting carp rods, 40T modulus carbon fibre blanks are needed to give them the power needed, but these are sometimes not strong enough and are easily broken.
“Now with advancements in technology, we can improve the strength of the higher modulus carbon to deliver rods with improved casting power and strength.”
Also on view will be Weihai Hanhigh’s ACRAB-X high quality carbon rod (below). It features: 30T + 40T modulus carbon and cross 45-degree carbon; Fuji guides and Alconite rings; woven carbon reel seat; and a carbon grip.
Wang added that a European tackle show has become increasingly important to his company in recent years. “The region is currently our main market and represents about 60% of our business.
“Most of our products are suitable for the European market, including all types of predator, fly, trout, spinning and saltwater rods.
“We want to show them off and demonstrate our ability to deliver quality products to the marketplace and our customers. If we get more contacts – like we did last year – it will be a good show for us. The event is also a great opportunity for us to gauge the market and keep up-to-date with current trends.”
