Sakura outlines ‘truly unique’ Stingray Soft Jig features

There is no other squid jig on the market like the Sakura Stingray Soft Jig.

That’s the assertion of Franck Rosmann, the brand’s Product Manager and designer of the bait who told Angling International that what makes it unique is the design of the soft PVC body that captures the heat and light.

He explained: “The innovation lies in its soft body which offers good shock resistance and gives confidence to the squid or cuttlefish that perceives this jig as a real prey. The material used stores heat which makes it even more realistic when the lure is caught in the tentacles of the cephalopods. Our jig is therefore more effective because it limits release.”

In keeping with the French manufacturer’s eco-responsible approach, the use of lead is replaced in the ballast of the Stingray Soft by zinc.

The jig also has an optimal hydrodynamic profile and perfect balance that allows it to reach good casting distances, quickly reaching significant depths and remaining completely horizontal in the depth phase to optimise the quality of the bites.

Equipped with the best components, it is armed with a double crown of very fine and sharp BKK hooks (below) that are designed to reduce the risk of unhooking and prevent interference from algae.

“The Stingray Soft is specially designed to produce a darting action,” said Rosmann. “Its construction favours lateral lurches when jerked by making rapid upward strokes with the rod while reeling. This is a formidable technique for squid and prospecting between two waters.”

To amplify the attractive look of the Stingray Soft, it has phosphorescent 3D Sakura eyes, with each colour having its own spectrometry, combining phosphorescence and reactions to ultra violet rays.

“The decoration of our jigs capture light and re-transmit it in multiple ways to make it as attractive as possible,” added Rosmann.
