Share

This year’s EWF Experience the World of Fly Fishing Show in Germany has partnered with the UK’s Atlantic Salmon Trust to promote international action for the restoration of the species.

The ‘Wild Salmon without borders’ event takes place in Fürstenfeldbruck (near Munich) from April 13 and 14 and will put the focus on Wild Atlantic Salmon which are said to be in crisis following a 70% decline in stocks over the last 30 years.

The event aims to gather individuals and organisations from across Europe to develop cross-border collaboration and action for the species. It will include eminent speakers in the field of salmon conservation from the UK, Ireland, France, Norway, Iceland, Denmark, Spain and Germany who will discuss a range of issues affecting salmon.

In addition to talks and presentations, the event will also highlight the cultural and spiritual importance of Wild Salmon to the people of Europe and is set to showcase a selection of powerful films that highlight the many threats that face the species.

Rudy van Duijnhoven, an angling journalist based in the Netherlands, said: “The EWF’s ‘Wild Salmon without borders’ event will serve as a stepping stone towards greater international collaboration for wild Atlantic salmon in the future.”
