Owner confirms K&E Tackle is moving from its home of 50 years

K&E Tackle, a US manufacturing, sourcing and distribution company, is vacating its home for the past 50 years to move into a new facility in Hastings, Michigan, that is more than twice the size.
The new site will become the main office and distribution point for K&E and its brands, which include Stopper Lures, Carlisle Floats, Bear Creek, Best Tackle and Arnold Tackle.
The move became necessary following the company’s continued expansion over the last few years, explained Jim Sprague (pictured), K&E’s co-owner with Jenny Sprague. “With the extra space we can continue to maintain our inventory levels and increase our efficiencies in shipping and order processing,” he added.
In a twist of fate, the new location was originally occupied by E.W. Bliss Co., where Jim’s parents, Ken and Evelyn Sprague, worked before they started their fishing lure business, which Ken later sold to Jim.
“People thought dad was crazy to leave a good union job to try to make a living peddling lures. With three young kids and no real business experience, it was a gutsy move,” said Sprague.
The move should be completed by the end of this month. The previous location will be used for additional warehousing.
