Breaking news from US brand Lew’s is that it will be launching the Custom SS Lite spinning reel at the upcoming Bassmaster Classic in Tulsa, Oklahoma, beginning tomorrow.
The latest addition to the 200 size Custom Lite range features the lightweight design and smooth drag offered in the rest of the series, but is built to perform particularly well when backing is tied to a braided main line.
Designed for anglers fishing with light line, the new model’s shallow spool reduces line capacity to eliminate line waste and the need for backing, especially when using braid.
“With braided line being such a must in finesse fishing, this Custom SS Lite is perfect,” said Mark Zona, Lew’s ambassador and TV show host. “It’s just unnecessary to have that much line on a spool – plus, it makes it lighter.”
Lew’s highlights the reel’s “featherlight frame” and skeletal motor, weighing just 6.7 ounces. Machined aluminium gears and a hybrid carbon drag system are among other key features. Lew’s Custom SS Lite will be available to buy online from tomorrow and from dealers exhibiting at the Classic Expo.
