Lure brand Seika launches out of the shadows of Tubertini

Share

Seika Fishing is stepping up its export ambitions across Europe, using ANGELWELT in November to present a newly independent brand identity and recruit partners who share its long-term vision.

Established around 20 years ago as Tubertini’s spinning brand, Seika is now being repositioned to stand on its own merits. While Tubertini remains its distributor and the two businesses operate from the same building, Seika’s management is determined that the market sees it as a distinct brand rather than an extension of the Italian coarse fishing specialist.

“Seika had never had a clearly defined vision or precise identity,” says Seika Import/Export Manager Mirko Piccioli. “Its association with Tubertini – a name synonymous with coarse fishing in Italy –could alienate spinning anglers. Since taking charge of the project last year, the Seika team has worked to establish a separate visual, operational and communications identity. The intention is that Tubertini appears only where appropriate as distributor, allowing Seika to develop its own relationship with predator and saltwater anglers.”

That ambition is central to the export programme. Tubertini’s established distribution network already covers Italy, Spain, much of Europe and several countries beyond. “Seika can draw on that platform, although its brand awareness outside Italy remains limited.”

The brand’s immediate export focus is all European countries, with ANGELWELT providing a valuable opportunity to introduce prospective partners to the Seika proposition. Rather than simply displaying tackle, the company wants visitors to understand the thinking behind it.

“Our philosophy rests on balancing style, functionality and inspiration from nature, backed by the practical experience of the product-development team. Our ‘Different by Nature’ tagline captures an approach that rejects the straightforward adaptation of rods and tackle originally created for Japanese or American markets.

“Instead, Seika develops original equipment around European fishing environments, techniques and angler requirements. This includes a commitment to plastic-free packaging, designed to reduce plastic use while maintaining protection, usability and presentation.”

Its rod programme has been built with freshwater and saltwater anglers in mind. In freshwater, it is concentrating on street fishing and large predators, with equipment for zander, asp and pike. In saltwater, the range covers seabass, bluefish and barracuda, feeding-frenzy fishing, eging, vertical fishing and Tai Rubber—techniques particularly relevant to Mediterranean markets.

Kayak fishing is another significant category. As the discipline continues to gain traction, Seika has developed rods tailored to the constraints and demands of fishing from a kayak. It is also extending its development work into trout and black bass fishing.

The product offer is not limited to rods. Seika is developing artificial lures in-house, using original body shapes, colour patterns and finishes intended to make the products recognisable in a crowded sector. The company believes its direct control over design and development will help it offer functionality, performance and fair pricing to retailers.

At ANGELWELT, Seika will be seeking distributors and retailers that see tackle as more than a commodity. It wants partners with genuine fishing knowledge, an understanding of their local markets and a willingness to invest in building a differentiated brand.

For retailers, Seika’s pitch is clear: original products, a defined personality and an alternative to familiar market offerings. It is seeking relationships based on mutual trust, strong product support and shared growth rather than rapid, indiscriminate distribution.

Over the next two to five years, Seika aims to become a recognised European name, valued not only for product reliability and performance, but also for its research, creativity and clear point of view. Its goal is to build a community of anglers and trade partners who embrace what the brand stands for: fishing equipment designed with purpose, personality and a European perspective.
