Four-time winner returns to reclaim eyewear prize

A former EFTTEX winner returned to the European trade show – the scene of four winning appearances – to reclaim its crown.

Danish eyewear brand Wiley X was recognised as an EFTTEX Best New Product Award winner for the fifth time in its history on the show’s return in Brussels and will hopefully be back next year defending the title in Barcelona. Mattias Christensen, Account Manager, told Angling International: “Although we have won it before, it remains significant recognition for the company and we feel very honoured.

“The competition was very strong and this award for the WX JAKL is an acknowledgement of the products that we are proud to offer our customers. Best-in-class polarisation and our CAPTIVATE technology that blocks out the harmful blue light are key features. Being recognised in this way also acts as additional motivation to the team to continue developing eyewear that meets the highest standards and offers the best-in-class technology.”

Christensen added that Wiley X will hopefully return to EFTTEX in Barcelona in June, where it is looking forward to reconnecting with partners, meeting new prospects and staying aligned with industry trends. “We hope next year brings even more attendees and fresh business opportunities,” he told Angling International.

Although overall attendance was lower than he hoped, Christensen countered: “The quality of visitors was excellent. Most were sales managers, directors, CEOs or business owners – the decision-makers. That allowed us to have focused and constructive talks with the people we wanted to connect with. It was a pleasure to meet established business contacts and build relationships with potential leads.”

He added that Wiley X delivered on the company’s objectives. “We connected with partners, identified several promising leads and showcased our products to the right audience. Several conversations have progressed to formal negotiations, so we consider the event a success.”
