The group which owns Australia’s leading supplier of fishing tackle has appointed an interim CEO following a scandal that has seen the departure of its Managing Director.
Super Retail Group, owner of BCF (Boating, Camping, Fishing), has appointed David Burns to the position following the termination of the employment of Anthony Hegarty as Managing Director and Chief Executive Office with immediate effect earlier this week.
The Board said it made the decision after receiving new information from Heraghty regarding his relationship with the company’s former Chief Human Resources Officer. “In light of this new information the Board has concluded that Mr Heraghty’s previous disclosures were not satisfactory,” it said in a statement.
Media in Australia has reported that Heraghty was sacked over an alleged secret work relationship. News.com.au reported that the action comes after 16 months of the company defending Heraghty against allegations and a protracted court battle that an illicit affair has taken place as well as allegations of bullying and a toxic work environment.
