Leeda announces major change to business model

Leeda, one of the UK’s leading fishing tackle companies, is to cease operating as a general wholesaler of third party brands to concentrate on its own portfolio, which includes Wychwood, MAP and Leeda.
Dominic Langan, CEO of Leeda, said: “This decision has been made with the long-term health and growth of our business in mind. By concentrating all our efforts and investment behind our own brands, we will be able to innovate more effectively, accelerate product development and deliver an even higher level of service and support to our core customers.
“Over the years, Wychwood, MAP and Leeda have earned strong reputations for quality, performance and value, but there is so much more potential. This strategic focus will allow us to strengthen our structure and processes for developing products to ensure our brands remain relevant and are valued by both our customers and the end consumer.
“This includes our recently launched range of eyewear and apparel developed in collaboration with our sister company, Madison.
“We recognise this marks a change in the way we have traded with parts of the market for many decades and we are committed to managing this transition carefully and professionally. By serving a smaller number of customers more closely aligned with our brands, we believe we will create stronger partnerships and deliver greater benefits to everyone involved.”
The change will take effect over the coming weeks.
He added that Leeda remains fully committed to the angling trade in the UK, Ireland and in all of its export markets and looks forward to driving future growth through continuous investment in innovation, service and the brands that anglers trust.
