One of North America’s best known hook brands is celebrating its 100th anniversary – and is showing no sign of slowing down.
Eagle Claw was founded by Andrew D McGill more than a century ago following the launch of the Wiltless Wing Fly that has been described as a breakthrough that forever changed fishing and established the company as a leader in innovation, performance and quality.

The Wright & McGill brand says it continues to lead the way. Eric Allee, Eagle Claw Marketing Manager, said: “In the last five years we have improved every stage of hook manufacturing, including hook point production, forming, tempering and finishing through state-of-the-art upgrades that set a new standard in precision and consistency.
“Powered by American-made wire and modernised in Denver, our process honours tradition while driving the future of American-made fish hooks.
“The McGill’s commitment to American manufacturing and anglers who rely on it spans generations. It includes Andrew McGill’s vision to innovate, which began with the Wiltless Wing Fly and led to the revolutionary Eagle Claw hook, and his wife Madeline, who guided the company through growth while fostering a deep commitment to employee wellbeing.
“Their son Lee carried that legacy, blending his father’s passion for innovation with his mother’s dedication to the people behind the brand.”
A century later, much has changed, but one thing remains the same – Eagle Claw’s commitment to American manufacturing, its customers and the people behind the brand. That dedication is stronger than ever, delivering premium, performance-driven tackle anglers can count on.
