Tested and ready – PRADCO brand moves into rod market with Finesse CX

Share

A brand belonging to PRADCO-Fishing  – one of the world’s largest suppliers of household name lures – has moved into the rod market.

Great Lakes Finesse (GLF), which was acquired by PRADCO last year, has launched the Finesse CX range of rods to complement its hugely specialised line-up of baits that are a favourite for tournament anglers in northern US states.

Brand Manager Dan Miguel said that the venture has been driven by demand from anglers. “In the last few years we have had so many people asking what rods and reels you pair to fish these baits effectively. We never felt comfortable in giving anyone an answer to that, especially on the rod side with what exists on the market.

“There are companies making a lot of really good rods, but they don’t make ones that are specific to finesse fishing. We felt that there was a really good opportunity for us to solve that problem and develop an incredible rod that emulates what we have been using at GLF for years.”

Miguel added that the rods have been crafted to very high standards. “We were always going to make the best product we possibly could, no matter what the cost. If it costs more we are going to do it, even if it means you get just a 1% better bait or land 1% more fish – we are going to make that change.

“We are not necessarily trying to beat anyone, we are just trying to make the absolute best we possibly can, and what comes with that is a lot of testing.

“We could have brought the range to market a year ago but didn’t. Our entire team has been fishing these rods for a long time now and we feel there is no better finesse rod out there after going through that process. We feel we can deliver a product that anglers are going to be 100% satisfied with.

“There are a lot of rods out there at a price point that entices you with flashy components that really don’t do much for catching fish. We wanted to put all our effort into making the most premium but affordable rod that is focused on things that are going to help you be successful in search of the trophy fish or tournament wins.

“So our priorities are the quality of the blank, the guides that are going to help get you that distance and that handle which will give you the rod that is light and delivers 100% feedback when you are trying to detect those bites from fish at long range.”

Miguel is proud of the result. “No longer are anglers going to have to make do with whatever is out there. They are finally going to have a rod that can effectively fish all our finesse baits. You are going to know that you have the best possible rod for this super style of finesse fishing.”

FCX78ML – 7’8” Medium Light (fast action)
The longest casting and most parabolic rod in the line-up, with the backbone on the bottom end to turn any size fish. When extreme casting distance is required, this is the ultimate long medium-light rod to fire small baits further.

With distance comes the need for sensitivity, and this rod offers the most feedback you can get, from the full X Carbon blank to the one-piece carbon handle. Not only will you get those bites further away from the boat, but you will also feel the slightest hit, allowing you to set the hook at the right time. The parabolic action of the top half of the rod will allow you to fish small baits on line as light as 4 lb test.

FCX74ML – 7’ 4” Medium Light (fast action)
The most versatile rod in the line-up. If you can only have one, this rod will handle just about every finesse presentation you can think of, from casting a hair jig, finesse underspin, drop-shotting, mid-strolling and even dragging small finesse baits. This rod is the perfect blend of length and action for making long casts when needed, but also a super effective rod for light line drop shot, hanging a minnow or mid-strolling. Says Miguel: “Because of the longer parabolic action, we love using this rod for drop shotting or hovering a minnow using light line and finer wire hooks.“

FCX78MH 7’ 8” Medium Heavy (extra fast action)
Designed specifically for fishing a tube, Juvy Craw, heavy NED or a finesse jig, this rod offers extreme casting distance, maximum sensitivity and the backbone to drive the hook home far from the boat. Says Miguel: “This rod will give you full control, from feeling the bait as it passes over the bottom and through cover to fighting and landing those bigger-than-average fish. Without a doubt, this rod will allow you to connect with more fish using bottom presentations and get them in the boat.”
