Gillies MD delighted by ‘two most difficult products to bring to market’
Share
Two of the most difficult products that Australian lure maker Gillies has ever brought to market were crowned winners at the Angling International LIVE Product Showcase.

A lead-free version of the Tassie Devil – an iconic lure with an army of fans across the world – and the Stormrider lifejacket from Gillies Life Jacket Solutions provided the highlights for the company at the show in Budapest. Managing Director Pat Levy (main image), told Angling International: “It’s always great for the entire team to win awards like this.
“Both products are very different, but similar in that they have been years and years in the making. A lot of trial and error, compliance issues and design engineering have all been crucial in these products and they are among the most difficult that we have brought to market.
“They provide anglers with a unique product that is needed to make fishing more effective and comfortable. Winning awards doesn’t always guarantee sales success, but we are confident that these two will be in our stable for the next decade. It will most likely take 12 to 24 months to see our distributors find retail homes and for marketing support to follow, but the initial interest has been good.”

TASSIE DEVIL LEAD-FREE
The Tassie Devil has been around for over 40 years. With the original core of the lure being lead, the team in Australia set about finding a more green and responsible option for a European market challenged by the use of lead. After five years of innovation and research, the lead-free Tassie Devil is here.

STORMRIDER
The ultimate wet weather lifejacket from Gillies Lifejacket Solutions. The manual inflatable is transformed into a comfortable and functional soft shell and fleece-lined jacket to keep you warm and safe on the water. It utilises the latest USA-made Halkey Roberts inflators and is licenced to ISO standards.
