Exciting French carp brands reveal big plans for future

Share

Two of France’s most exciting carp brands shared revealed big plans for the future at Europe’s premier tackle trade show.

Mack2 and Leon – part of the AFL Pêche group that owns the Pacific Pêche retail chain – are established as the top suppliers of carp tackle across France and are ready to take the next step in their ambitious expansion plans by offering businesses across Europe the opportunity to distribute them on an exclusive basis.

The plan is part of a global project developed by AFL Pêche which will also include France’s iconic and most famous fishing tackle brand, Rive, which has been revitalised under the group’s ownership. The company’s Benjamin Fruit (above left with colleague Philippe Leonet) told Angling International: “This is a very important moment for Rive, Mack2 and Leon. We are unleashing a world of possibilities for customers to become authorised distributors of three of France’s best-known brands.”

Fruit added that Mack2 and Leon have enjoyed great success in France and that their potential is starting to stir interest in other countries across Europe, including the UK, Netherlands and Belgium. “We believe that we have good products, good prices and perfectly adequate stock to serve anyone in Europe.

“These are two brands new to most territories, but they offer exclusive distributorship of top class tackle and they have proved themselves in France in terms of turnover and profitability.

“We were very encouraged by reaction to the brands at Angling International LIVE. There was also a lot of interest in the fact that Mack2 and Leon have joined the Rive Sport Fishing project. This ensures that it will open the doors of stores and deliver an incredible product offering.”

Mack2 was created more than 30 years ago and has become a popular brand for all types of anglers, including beginners, leisure, price conscious and experienced fishermen. It has been able to assert itself in the market thanks to exclusive Pacific Pêche distribution and as a result has become one of the most important brands in France with a very large and comprehensive catalogue.

Leon – described as a ‘more personal brand – was created by legendary carp fisherman Leon Hoogendjik. It has a more exclusive catalogue of high-end products targeted at lovers of technical equipment.

Fruit said: “Both brands have an exciting future and continue to grow as they have done in recent years. Sylvan Lafont, Product Manager at Mack2, is constantly looking for products that deliver unrivalled value for money, while Leon Hoogendjik is constantly on the water’s edge improving and creating his own products – always with extraordinary results.”
