Scandinavian brand enjoys memorable international show debut

A Scandinavian brand that is turning heads with its handcrafted Finnish lures enjoyed a memorable first-ever international trade show last week.

Norolan – a well known name in the Nordic region – debuted its traditional hand-made lures at the Angling International LIVE trade show in Budapest and picked up solid business contacts from day one. Partner and COO Petri Janhunen explained: “Before the show we were told to expect between one to three connections with distributors.

“Following day one we had spoken to 12 with visitors from Finland, Sweden, Spain, the Czech Republic, Serbia, Norway, Hungary, Netherlands, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania and a business with 11 stores in the Baltic region.

“It was a great first day and was just the start we wanted in our plan to expand the business across Europe.”

Norolan is the brainchild of founder Jyrki Kasanen and he is proud of its culture and history. “Our products are 100% handcrafted in Finland and designed to deliver superior performance, durability and a unique aesthetic that sets them apart from the competition.”

Kasanen added visitors looking at its products for the first time immediately recognised how unique the lures are. “They appreciated that they are handcrafted in Finland and although they looked high quality, they are reasonably priced. One said they appeared three-times the cost.

To add to its success, Norolan picked up a runners-up award in the Angling International LIVE Product Showcase for its Merino wool clothing.

“It was such an honour to be the only company from Finland to attend and bring our innovative and sustainable fishing gear onto the international stage,” said Kasanen. “We believe that we have got momentum now following our first international show.”
