Fishing tackle supplier turns to TV for new e-commerce ad


Dick’s Sporting Goods, the 850-strong US retail chain, has turned to the silver screen for its new e-commerce advertising campaign.

The campaign, titled Click On Dicks.com, features actors Will Arnett and Kathryn Hahn and was directed by screenwriter and actress Lake Bell.

It showcases the seamless hassle-free experience of shopping at Dicks, a key player in fishing tackle sales with a reported 10% of the market, and is designed to remind customers that the service and assortment found in its brick and mortar stores are also available online.

Arnett’s starring film credits include Blades of Glory and TV series including Arrested Development and Murderville, while Hahn’s work includes the movies Afternoon Delight and Private Life and the TV series I Love Dick.

The pair use their comedic talents in multiple vignettes discovering a wide range of Dick’s products online as they search for gifts for their families.

The campaign runs across broadcast, social and streaming service such as YouTube, Amazon and Netflix. As part of the Dick’s Sporting Goods Foundation, the retailer provided Arnett and Hahn with $100,000 Sports Matter Grants to go towards youth sports organisations of their choosing.
