GO Outdoors wins major award for Europe’s largest outdoor retail store

The owner of one of the UK’s leading suppliers of fishing tackle has won a major national retail award for its recently opened largest outdoor sports store in Europe.

GO Outdoors, owner of the Fishing Republic franchise, won the Best New Store Award at the Retail Week Awards for the company’s record-breaking 125,000sqft outlet in York, England.

Owned by JD Sports, GO Outdoors opened the megastore in August and was featured in the October issue of Angling International. Nik Hodges (above), Store Manager, said: “This award is testament to the hard work of our team in creating a game-changing outdoor retail experience and we look forward to continuing to offer our customers the best possible service.”

The store created 42 new jobs in the area and features 300 branded concession areas including the largest YETI store in Europe and a new Garmin outlet showcasing the most extensive range in the UK.

GO Outdoors was founded in Sheffield in 1998 annd now boasts 80 stores across the UK.
