Egyptian hook supplier aims to be European one-stop shop

Share

Established late in 2019 in Egypt with a mission to produce high quality sports and commercial fishing hooks to the highest Japanese standards, EFT Hooks is ready to show the European market the result of its efforts.

EFT Hooks will be exhibiting at Angling International LIVE in September, its first European trade show, where it will deliver a number of compelling reasons why visitors should consider its credentials as a trusted supplier.

From its own factories in the Middle East and Egypt it has embarked on a strategy to supply both the European and Middle Eastern regions with hooks under its own brand or OEM.

Advantages that it can offer potential customers include: faster shipping than from China with lower costs; no customs duties incurred on goods from Egypt; and aeady supply of a wide range of products that include hooks, rigs, sabikis or tying and rigging as an OEM service.

The company is the brainchild of Dr Ahmed Zedan (pictured), former managing partner of one of the leading tackle distribution businesses in Egypt. He left the company to buy a majority share in EFT with the aim of elevating the factory to the next level of local distribution and export.

Since his intervention, EFT has grown rapidly and with the European market in mind, it has established a new tying, rigging and sabiki production unit at a second location. He told Angling International: “We want to be the one-stop shop for the European tackle industry, supplying everything related to the hook business.”

EFT has acquired the most advanced quality control laboratory in the fishing hook production industry. Dr Zedan said: “The quality control process ensures consistent quality from the correct forming process to the appropriate electroplating procedures, which ensures the highest corrosion resistance in the tough commercial fishing conditions. Checking hardness, tensile strength, toughness and electroplating quality guarantees consistent quality.

“The factory achieved its quality goals and has become the number one brand sold in Egypt despite being more expensive than imported Chinese hooks.”

De Zedan explained that achieving these high standards involves several production procedures and quality control checkpoints throughout the production stages. “From using superior quality high carbon steel wires and state-of-the-art production machinery to ongoing quality control, every stage ensures excellence.

“The best machines sharpen the hooks, ensuring the highest hooking rate, while the best materials ensure longevity of the sharpened tips. The hardness of the hooks ensures optimal spring action and low wear.”
