BKK offers two new Chebu rig options to European predator anglers

Share

The Cheburashka (Chebu) rig has unequivocally dominated the European predator scene, becoming the most popular presentation for zander and perch. By separating the weight from the hook, it delivers a natural, free-swinging action that traditional jigheads cannot replicate.

However, as the technique matures, European anglers are hitting a bottleneck: using generic hooks on a Chebu rig often restricts articulation, poorly matches specific bait profiles or results in missed hook-ups. In response, BKK has introduced two purpose-built solutions within the Armorpoint Series for 2026: the Straight Baitholder Chebu and The Offset Worm EWG Chebu (main image).

Both products feature an oversized eye designed specifically to unlock the maximum pivot and lifelike action of soft plastics, while each is engineered to conquer a completely different fishing challenge.

BKK Armorpoint Straight Baitholder Chebu

In highly pressured waters across Europe, picky zander and cautious perch demand a finesse approach. Anglers often downsize to slim-profile soft plastics, such as pintails or finesse shads. In these situations, bites can be subtle, with fish merely nipping at the tail.

  • Light gauge and unyielding: Made from Hyper Carbon Steel (HCS), the light gauge construction keeps the presentation stealthy and responsive, while still providing the backbone needed to land trophy fish.
  • Zero slippage: A precision laser-welded bait keeper holds delicate plastics firmly in place. This reduces slippage during short strikes, ensures the bait stays correctly rigged and extends its lifespan.
  • Instant hook-ups: The Super Slide (SS) coating allows for effortless penetration, turning subtle bites into solid hook-ups almost immediately.

BKK Armorpoint Offset Worm EWG Chebu

When zander and perch retreat into heavy cover, such as rock piles, submerged timber or weed beds, anglers need to switch to bottom bouncing tactics using bulkier soft plastics. This requires a weedless presentation without sacrificing hooking power.

  • The EWG advantage: The extra wide gap perfectly accommodates thick bodied plastics. It hides the hook point for a snag-free presentation, yet when a predator strikes, the point is exposed cleanly for dependable penetration.
  • Winching power: Also built from HCS, this hook offers superior tensile strength compared to standard wire. It gives anglers the confidence to winch strong fish out of heavy structure before they can wrap the line around cover.

For tackle shops and distributors, stocking both Armorpoint products offers a significant merchandising advantage. BKK advises: “Do not just sell a generic hook, sell the precise rigging solution.”

“We recommend educating your customers to match the hook curve to the bait profile and water conditions. Display the Armorpoint Straight Baitholder Chebu alongside slim soft plastics and finesse weights. At the same time, cross merchandise the Armorpoint Offset Worm EWG Chebu with creature baits and heavy duty gear. This targeted, scenario-based approach not only solves real world angling frustrations but also drives cross selling and strengthens your store’s technical reputation.”
