Camminare Boots boss issues challenge to European distributors

“Once you have this boot in your hands, you will want it in your catalogue.”

Gianluca Barbirato is throwing out a challenge to European distributors. After years of development, the man with an unashamed passion for footwear – and for the unique qualities of EVA material in particular – has created a superior lightweight boot for anglers. And all it takes to be convinced of its quality is to hold it in your hand or slip it onto your foot and feel the contrast. The difference to any other fishing boot you know will be unreal, says Barbirato.
Barbirato is an Italian footwear afficionado who set up his manufacturing business in Poland, Europe’s centre for weatherproof boots. From his company Sapro System comes the Camminare Boots brand and a promise to engineer the lightest and most comfortable boots to keep anglers fishing for longer.
It’s a promise built on what Barbirato calls a magical material. Many manufacturers are innovators, but the best often have an obsession. For Barbirato, that obsession is EVA, the highly pliable plastic that, when treated right, produces a finished product that is supremely lightweight while still being incredibly insulating from the cold.
Barbirato’s mastery of EVA began in 1997, when he worked for a company producing injection‑moulding machines. EVA was still a mysterious, unpredictable material, and he threw himself into the challenge.
He took part in early trials when the technology was far from perfect. “I asked questions, learned from senior colleagues, spent hours in the lab, and became fascinated by how EVA behaved,” he says today. “How it expanded, how temperature changed it, how humidity altered it… to me it was like magic.”

Barbirato’s passion soon took him around the world. He installed machines, taught teams how to use them – even at major global brands – and absorbed the knowledge of every engineer he met. Driven by curiosity, he learned languages along the way. Today he speaks five and is learning a sixth.
His footwear business grew into the farming, safety and food production sectors, and into markets beyond Poland, and even to discussions with the Polish military.
To say that Camminare Boots is at the cutting-edge of EVA footwear would not be an over-statement. But Barbirato has now taken his passion a step further. After three years of ‘pain’, he has improved on the EVA material that has served Camminare Boots so well, and he has created the boot that he is now urging all angling distributors to feel for themselves.
Enter the Sicuro EVA++ and, more specifically, the Sicuro Hook boot for anglers.
EVA is naturally lightweight, warm and shock-absorbing – qualities that make it ideal for long sessions on the bank. It flexes comfortably with the foot, insulates in cold weather and keeps overall fatigue low. But Barbirato was driven to add something extra – a sole that was more durable and maintained its grooved grips for longer. Barbirato developed the advanced EVA++ and, crucially, a production process that fuses the two materials together into one ultra-lightweight, ultra-stable ‘super boot’.

At once, Sicuro EVA++ offers a lightweight EVA upper for comfort and insulation plus a tough, dense EVA++ sole for long-lasting grip and stability.
“The process of fusing the two together was a huge challenge to perfect,” he tells Angling International. “Which is why I say the Sicuro EVA++ was born in pain. But my mindset is never to be defeated. Like any angler knows, you can not be discouraged by failures. You keep going.
“That focus is the secret of our success here at Camminare Boots, and now we have achieved something special.”
Barbirato’s pain has been angling’s gain. All he asks now is for distributors to feel the Sicuro Hook boot, the option with the EVA++ sole designed specifically for anglers.
The moment you handle a Sicuro Hook boot, the contrast is unmistakable. Flex the upper, press the sole, and the engineering becomes obvious. For distributors, the product tells its own story.
That is exactly why Barbirato is inviting potential partners to request samples, compare them against the EVA boots they already know, and speak directly with Camminare’s sales team about opportunities in their market.

There are four points to remember, says Barbirato, as you marvel at the almost weightless boot:
- It offers ultra‑lightweight comfort that reduces fatigue
- Anglers get warmth and insulation for cold months
- The EVA++ sole gives superior grip on wet banks
- Camminare Boots are always competitive on price
For those who value technical innovation and want a footwear line that clearly stands apart, Camminare Boots offers a product that proves itself the moment you hold it. Barbirato believes that when distributors handle the Sicuro Hook for the first time, the decision becomes easy. Are you ready to take the challenge?
