Share

A US fishing accessories supplier believes that the time is ripe for international expansion with its innovative range of tackle products.

Luna Sea Sports – part of the Elvisridge Capital private investment firm that also owns fishing brands Blackfin Rods, BBS Tech, FINNS Braid and Glacier Outdoor – is poised to benefit from what it sees as the global growth of the recreation fishing industry.

Bill Bolton, Operating Partner, at Elvisridge Capital LLC and President, Luna Sea LLC , told Angling International: “The global recreational fishing industry is experiencing consistent growth, driven by increasing interest in outdoor activities, self-sufficiency and wellness-focused lifestyles. Post-pandemic shifts have further reinforced consumer demand for high quality, durable gear that enhances time on the water.

“Luna Sea is well positioned to capitalise on this momentum with a product range that is innovative, field-tested and built to meet the needs of serious anglers.

“With a strong foundation in domestic markets and growing brand recognition, now is an ideal time to enter new international markets and build long-term export partnerships,” added Bolton, who revealed that the brand’s ambitious export targets include:

  • Middle East
  • Australia and New Zealand
  • South Africa
  • Japan and Southeast Asia
  • Nordic region and northern Europe

“These markets offer strong retail networks, high consumer spending on fishing gear and a shared appreciation for innovation and quality,” said Bolton.

The Luna Sea line-up well suited to international markets includes:

  • Cush-It rod butt cushions – essential for offshore, kayak and surf fishing
  • Ultra Float rod grips – ergonomic and floatable grips that improve safety and usage
  • Leader-Mate –keeps leaders and rigs neatly organised

Walter added that Luna Sea is actively seeking fishing gear distributors with established wholesale and retail networks, independent tackle retailers and chains or outdoor and sporting goods retailers with fishing categories.

Its ideal export partners must:

  • Have proven experience in the fishing, marine or outdoor gear sectors;
  • Maintain strong relationships with retailers or end-consumers;
  • Offer warehousing, logistics and customer support in their market;
  • Understand local fishing cultures and customer preferences;
  • Align with Luna Sea’s values of innovation, durability and customer focus.

Bolton said that Luna Sea offers a compelling partnership opportunity based on proven angler-driven product innovation, a solid track record in domestic markets with strong customer loyalty, high margin products, flexible manufacturing capabilities for varied order sizes, comprehensive marketing support and long-term commitment to building strategic, mutually beneficial export relationships.

“In the first year we are looking to establish distribution in two or three new export markets, establish region-specific marketing campaigns to support new retailers and expand our digital presence, including localised e-commerce channels and content.”

The long-term aim – within five years – will see:

  • Luna Sea positioned as a globally recognised brand in the sport and recreational fishing sector;
  • The introduction of region-specific marketing campaigns to support new retailers;
  • Dedicated teams and representatives in key international regions;
  • Branded events, sponsorships and pro-staff programmes to strengthen community engagement.
