New brand targets smaller retailers with tungsten-only terminal tackle

Share

A company born out of the UK street fishing scene says its first range of tungsten-only terminal tackle will give smaller retailers a new option for selling to younger and more eco-conscious predator anglers.

FiTU will introduce the first of its ‘high performance lead-free‘ terminal tackle in June including cheb heads, bullet weights, NED and round jig heads and finesse sticks.

The company is the brainchild of Giacomo Francia, who counts Hamburg in Germany as his home city but who has lived in the UK for the past 12 years, from where he launched a street fishing blog followed by a webshop specialising in niche Japanese predator tackle.

For Francia, it has been a natural next step to launch a brand serving his audience of younger anglers and the network of shops that cater for what he calls ‘modern lure fishing’.

Francia told Angling International: “There is a demographic of younger anglers that combine city living with fishing. They like to be on the move, they carry minimal tackle, they like to fish in short sessions and they like to socialise afterwards. They are also eco conscious.

“Thanks to our knowledge of this group, we feel there is a gap in the market for a modern brand with lead-free tungsten terminal tackle at its starting point.”

Francia says FiTU will focus on servicing smaller tackle shops alongside selling direct to consumers online.

“Other brands have tungsten terminal tackle, but we are focused on it. That means we will be well known by anglers for offering functional eco-friendly products. For retailers the message is that we are price-competitive, we will have a B2B system for easy ordering online and we will have low MOQs to help smaller shops.”

FiTU’s products are designed to sit above mid-range with premium components including BKK hooks and chip-resistant anodised finishes. Added Francia: “Tungsten is more expensive than lead so there is no sense in competing on price, instead we are offering a high quality option to anglers with eco-conscious attitudes.”

The plan is to begin with terminal tackle then grow the brand by adding soft lures. “They are already in development,” says Francia. The UK market is a priority but FiTU welcomes direct enquiries from European retailers and will be seeking distributors from 2026.
