Pure Fishing opts out of ICAST

Pure Fishing – the largest company in the industry – has pulled out of this year’s ICAST.
A report on the gearjunkie.com website is quoting Jon Schlosser, Pure Fishing’s Chief Brand and Product Manager, as confirming the news that the group, which owns household names brands that include, Berkley, Abu Garcia, PENN and Plano, will not be attending the world’s largest fishing tackle trade show in Orlando, Florida, in July.
It is reported that Pure Fishing is moving from ICAST to conduct its media and customer business events at its brand-new showroom which has been opened at its Charleston, South Carolina, headquarters.
Pure Fishing’s decision will be a big blow to the organiser of ICAST – the American Sportfishing Association (ASA) – which prides itself on bringing all of the big industry names under one roof at the event that attracts more than 13,000 trade visitors a year.
Schlosser told gearjunkie.com: “This headquarters represents a significant investment in the future of our brands and our ability to engage directly with the industry. It is also part of why we made the decision not to attend ICAST this year.”
