Fishing was among the category growth leaders for Australia’s major outdoor retailer B’CF (Boating, Camping Fishing) as the brand recorded a 7.9% increase in sales compared to the previous year.
Brand owner, Super Retail Group, reported that fishing benefited from continued investment in its ‘in-store tackle store’ initiative, while the other main growth leader – touring – was buoyed by ongoing strength in the 4WD and caravanning markets.
BCF saw sales of $950.7m in its last financial year compared to $881, driven by like-for-like sales growth of 5.4%, network expansion and favourable weather conditions.
BCF operates from 165 stores and during the year added a further two superstores to its portfolio – taking the number to five, which are said to be transforming the customer experience and contributing ‘disproportionately’ to growth.
Sales for the group came in at $4,070m, up 4.5% despite a challenging consumer environment, with growth accelerating through the period.
Super Retail Group reported that BCF has seen a continued positive momentum, albeit in a seasonally low period of the year, at the start of FY26 with growth across all categories.
It reported that five new BCF outlets have been earmarked among they group’s planned 23 openings this year and nine closures.
