Popular SERT carp brand ushers in new generation

Share

Prowess, the successful carp fishing brand of French tackle supplier SERT, has made a name for itself over the years with its original designs and the quality of its rods.

Some of these – like the Kamrod – have become veritable icons, famed for being the first carp rods on the market with real power to cope with the toughest of fishing conditions.

Today, the Starfall Origins range of rods has become one of the benchmarks in the Prowess universe, making their name as catchers of big fish and shining in international competitions. Boasting all the appreciated features of the older generation, the new series has been upgraded with state-of-the-art components to help deliver the new power demanded by today’s carp anglers.

The new design includes a 1K carbon reinforcement on the butt to limit the ovalisation of the blank when casting and fighting, adding power and control.

For line speed, American Tackle TI Forged Air rings, already a benchmark, combine the undeniable advantages of Fuji KW guides with their anti-tangle properties, while offering the lightness of Pac Bay Minima.

Says SERT: “These soft and responsive lightweight rods will delight anglers who want to see the blank take on ever-indecent curves when in the thick of the action. This is the ‘all-rounder’ of the Origins range.

SERT has also developed and released the Adonia reel, with Prowess Product Manager Julien Blot saying: “After the success of the now defunct Starfall WRX reels, we set out to develop an even higher performance product. This new Adonia 9006 SS FD completes our range of long cast front drag reels, complementing its little brother, the Osmose 9006, and the Excelia WRX reel, which was released last year.

“We needed to develop a lighter reel that would appeal to the same target group of anglers. This is what we achieved with the Adonia which weighs in at less than 600g – 595g to be precise – which has been achieved without impacting the overall style of the reel.“

Adds Blot: “Weight aside, this reel still comes with a great list of specifications. Of course, it has infinite anti-reverse and a metal line clip, meaning it rises and falls gently, allowing perfect winding thanks to the proximity of the turns. On the one hand, it saves a few metres when casting while making the reel easier to use. This fluidity is also made possible by seven ball bearings in the frame.”

Suitable for shore anglers looking for a casting performance and from a boat or baiting boat, it comes with a recommended retail price of less than €120, ensuring anglers get their money’s worth.
