New Sakura Ryokan FW proves to be turning point in brand evolution

Share

The Ryokan FW lure rods from Sakura – described as a major turning point in the evolution the brand – have already gone down a storm with anglers following their launch in September.

The performance of the line-up has been significantly improved compared to previous generations thanks in the main to the weight of the blanks and the upgraded equipment. By using IM30T carbon lay-ups on the blank, Sakura Product Manager Franck Rosmann says the Sakura team have managed to reduce the weight by up to 30% compared to similar models in the price range. “They are also impressive in terms of comfort, robustness and sensitivity.”

The collection consists of five casting and six spinning rods, all designed for lure sport in freshwater (FW). “It is a complete set of rods equipped with Fuji guides that offer exceptional value for money, which is truly remarkable.”

The guides feature ‘Concept O-Rings’ in a slim version that provides exceptional performance while remaining lightweight. The aluminium oxide ceramic ring is compatible with all types of line, whether braided, nylon or fluorocarbon. Additionally, they feature Fuji’s ‘K-Tangle-Free’ frames which significantly reduce the risk of tangles during casting.

“The Ryokan FW range is diverse and will satisfy all freshwater predator anglers, whether for light techniques targeting perch and trout or more robust fishing aimed at big pike with swimbaits,” added Rosmann.

An ideal partner for the Ryokan FW as well as the Liberola, Ionizer GII, and Iconic RS casting rods is the newly launched Tory SBC 201which stands out with its fast gear ratio of 7.2:1, making it a top notch versatile reel for a multitude of techniques.

“For its design we chose an ultra-light ‘FLC’ composite that combines carbon and titanium, offering exceptional durability and lightness,” explained Rosmann. “Its fast gear ratio is particularly suited for a wide range of lures, while its drag system provides unprecedented smoothness – highly appreciated during finesse bait sessions.”

A magnetic cast control allows for easy adjustment of the spool rotation to prevent backlashes. For regular maintenance and lubrication of the bearings supporting the spool, a highly convenient disassembly system facilitates the removal of the side cover.
