Plans by the organisation that represents the fishing tackle trade in France to launch its own fishing show next year has been widely supported by its members.

GIFAP – (Groupement de l’industrie Française D’Articles De Pêche) – has revealed plans to stage the country’s first National Fishing Festival from May 23 to 25 in Nantes next year, a celebration of the sport that will include the chance to go fishing and see tackle from the country’s major suppliers.

GIFAP is delighted to reveal that the following members have already agreed to take part: Delalande Peche, Fun Fishing, Fiiish, Sensas (Ilis , Gunki), Shimano, Sert (Sakura, JMC, Garbolino), FishFriender, Lemer, Ultimate Fishing, Flashmer, Mepps, Daiwa, Rapala VMC (13 Fishing, Okuma), Pure Fishing (Abu Garcia, Savage Gear, Berkley, Mitchell …), Inedis, Navicom, Pacific Pêche, Pecheur.com, Poweline, La Pêche et les Poissons, and retailers and guides.

Also taking part will be the FNFP, the National Fishing Federation in France. Its President Claude Roustan told the country’s fishing website Pecheur.com: “We wanted to be at a big festival to meet fishermen. I really like the idea. It is going to be family friendly with a return of the big brands. It seems logical to me that the FNPF should participate.

“We will have a stand and I will be at Nantes myself. We will answer questions from fishermen and be able to debate and explain the topics that are important to them.”
