Lure supplier JM Gillies is back with a bang in Europe

Share

It’s been five long years since JM Gillies of Australia exhibited at a Europe trade show – but the good news is that the company is back and bringing new innovative products to the table.

Billy Parsons, JM Gillies Product Manager, told Angling International: “While the rest of the world has been on a roller-coaster of up and downward trends in sales and innovation, Australia has been about its business as usual – innovation and brand development has not stopped.

“With several of the leading brands in the country, the Gillies team has been improving our offers and models – including the development of a global lifejacket business with ISO certification for the European market.”

He added that Gillies’ most iconic brand, the Tassie Devil (main image) has been busy at work and added innovations to the mix with the addition of Live Skins and Lead-Free, alongside new spoons, spinners and trolling attractors and a ‘whole array’ of new colours, expanding the range to double what it was in 2029.

The StumpJumper has made the most significant addition to the range in 20 years with the AI StumpJumper (above). “We have used real fish patterns and enhanced them through a sophisticated AI generator to produce colours and patterns never seen before. The team has also improved these models with the addition of BKK hardware,” said Parsons.

The Warlock lure brand has seen the addition of four new designs with the Cod Lolly described as the ‘absolute’ stand-out. “This bait has grabbed a huge market share in a short space of time for large freshwater predators in Australia.

“The team are confident that this will also be a showstopper in the hard body lure market across Europe,” added Parsons. Alongside this, Gillies has added a Native Lolly and some smaller Vibes to the range.

The Gillies Bluewater brand continues to grow internationally with the popular Saury trolling lures now being complemented by some hand-crafted skirts in four sizes. “With over 100 unique lure moulds and designs available, we are sure to have options to suit any market worldwide,” said Parsons.

In 2020 JM Gillies acquired the services of the leading lifejacket designer and certifier in Australia. “We spent 12 months certifying and creating both an OEM business plus several own brands in the space,” explained Parsons. “Life Jackets Solutions is now a standalone business that sells lifejackets worldwide. Using the absolute best mechanisms for inflatables and certifying all our jackets to the latest standards has given the business a great advantage in several competitive markets around the world.”

Visitors to the Gillies booth will be able to see both the current ranges available and some innovations in designs and exclusive patterns. Be ready to learn how you can grow your business and brands within the space.
