KastKing, the leader in smart technology reels, is offering up another technological advancement and a global first by introducing the Mg-Ti Elite, the world’s first baitcasting reel with a titanium spool and shaft.
As the name implies, Mg-Ti Elite is an Elite series reel. Mg is the periodic element symbol for magnesium and Ti is the periodic element symbol for titanium.
Eric Knickerbocker, US Business Leader at KastKing, told Angling International: “Both materials are known for their high strength and super lightweight properties. The titanium spool and shaft of the Mg-Ti Elite weighs only 6.9g, requiring almost zero start-up inertia to get the spool spinning. This allows the angler to cast lures down to 1.7g and up to 85g with the same reel.”
The world’s first titanium spool is 250% stronger than aluminum alloy and 350% harder, offering extreme strength and durability. It incorporates the Halo Vortex Braking System – or HVB – to virtually eliminate backlashes for better castability and longer casting distances. A Digi-Cut magnesium frame with carbon fibre side covers offers unparalleled strength and rigidity with almost zero flex.
It also has an UltraDura 90 pinion gear and an aerospace T6 aluminum main gear for unmatched performance, cast after cast. With other performance features such as EZO high performance bearings and an oversize Star Drag, the Mg-Ti Elite is in a class of its own, says Knickerbocker.
Knickerbocker added: “When we set out to build yet another industry first reel, we not only wanted a reel that had numerous performance features, but it needed to handle the day-to-day stress of fighting big fish. Not only did we build an amazingly light reel that can be fished all day long with very little fatigue, Mg-Ti is a workhorse handling the rigours of even the most diehard fisherman.”
