US tariffs on fishing reels, reel accessories and landing nets have been removed from this week (Monday) following a proclamation issued by President Donald Trump.
The longwinded title of the action – Strengthening Actions Taken to Adjust Importations of Aluminium, Steel and Copper into the US – modifies duties on some imported products, including certain recreational fishing equipment.
The following products are no longer subject to Sec. 232 aluminium tariffs beginning on April 6:
- 9507.30.2000 — Fishing reels not valued over $2.70 each;
- 9507.30.4000 — Fishing reels valued over $2.70 but not over $8.45 each;
- 9507.30.6000 — Fishing reels valued over $8.45 each;
- 9507.30.8000 — Fishing reel parts and accessories;
- 9507.90.6000 — Fishing landing nets / similar nets.
The American Sportfishing Association (ASA) – the body that represents the industry in the region – says that importers should review the proclamation on this spreadsheet.
