GSM Outdoors acquires two fishing businesses
GSM Outdoors, the owner of a clutch of fishing and hunting brands, has acquired two more fishing businesses in the US.
The Texas company is now the owner of OEM manufacturer D&J Plastics along with Big Bite Baits, a brand known for its bass, panfish and saltwater products.
“The business model that the Montgomery family has built [at D&J Plastics] is a wonderful picture of the American dream,” said Edward Castro, CEO of GSM Outdoors. “We don’t take the opportunity to steward these brands lightly. What they have built up lines up perfectly with the direction of GSM and will be a foundational piece of our fishing portfolio.”
GSM Senior Vice President of Fishing Crispin Powley added: “I’m impressed with the way Big Bite Baits has grown into a top-tier line of fishing products. With the key components of personnel and pro-staff remaining in place, coupled with an established portfolio of existing products, I’m excited to see what the future holds for the brand as we combine resources.”
Big Bite Baits is based in Eufala, Alabama, while D&J Plastics, which dates back to 1976, is located in Georgetown, Georgia (pictured), and also has a facility in Guatemala.
