e-commerce business to open first French store

Share

French e-commerce business pecheur.com is planning to open its first store at the end of this year.

The site, owned and operated by Austin Falcon, was founded 20 years ago and turned to e-commerce in 2004, supported by a raft of technical and how-to content on its youtube channel.

The store will be located in Aubiere, near Clermont-Ferrand, about 50km from its warehouse in Gannat, Allier.

“The business is growing each year because pecheur.com offers a large choice and better prices,” said Falcon.

“We want to display our brand in ‘real life’ in a beautiful shop that will show off our brand partners and provide an original and different experience for customers. We will use our logistic skills to provide a good choice of products for fishermen.”

Falcon is not ruling out more shops but says the company’s digital presence will always be the priority. “It’s possible we could add more in the future but we are not planning to open 30 or 40 shops,” he added.

“France is a segmented market with lots of small shops and it’s important that brands are more evenly distributed to compete with Caperlan, the Decathlon fishing brand.

“Young fishermen love brands. They are more technically minded and more connected and we hope that pecheur.com is a good source of product for them.”
