Quantum Fishing, part of the Zebco group of brands acquired by Rather Outdoors in 2021, has recruited well-known industry figures Mike Rice and Gary Borland to its senior team.
Rice (left of picture), a former Director of Brand Development at Pure Fishing, becomes Senior Vice President of Quantum, while Borland (right), who was also at Pure Fishing as Senior Account Manager, is Vice President of Quantum Brand Management.
“Mike and Gary are giants in our industry, men who have spent decades developing reputations of integrity and exceptionalism,” said Rocky Kalsow, President of North America for Rather Outdoors. “Quantum has been the home of uncompromising quality since 1984 and is poised for the next chapter of innovation.”
Rice recalled that the first reel he bought with his own money was a Quantum Ultralight. “Taking on a leadership role for that same brand is an incredible honour,” he said. “This team has its eyes fixed on the future and I am looking forward to being a part of that.”
Borland commented: “Throughout my first years in this industry, I was well-acquainted with the reputation and legacy of Quantum,” he said. “I am excited to join such a passionate team and help drive the brand forward.”
Kalsow described both Rice and Borland as ‘giants in our industry, men who have spent decades developing reputations of integrity and exceptionalism.’
Rather Outdoors, based in South Carolina, also owns Strike King, Lew’s, Fox, Matrix and Salmo. Its acquisition of Zebco made it one of the largest tackle companies in the world.
